COMMENT SÉLECTIONNER UNE HÉLICE ?

L'objectif est d'éviter le surrégime moteur, tout en permettant au moteur d'atteindre le régime où la puissance maximale est fournie.

Si un test permet au moteur de dépasser son régime maximal, il faut augmenter le pas de l'hélice.

Une augmentation du pas de 2" (1 pouce = 25.4 mm) entraînera une chute approximative du régime moteur de 300 à 400 tours/minute.

Au contraire, une diminution du pas augmentera le régime moteur dans les mêmes proportions (300 à 400 tours/min pour 2" de pas).
Le diamètre est mesuré de l'extrémité d'une pale à l'extrémité de la pale opposée.
Le pas correspond à la distance parcourue lors d'un tour d'hélice.

LES MOYEUX

Moyeux fixes : le principe est simple, on enferme en force au centre de l'hélice un cylindre de caoutchouc spécial avec, en son centre, un cylindre cannelé aux dimensions exactes de l'arbre d'hélice.

Avantages : l'arbre est protégé contre les chocs et leur prix est souvent très raisonnable.

Inconvénients : le risque de dénoyautage est sensible surtout lors d'utilisations sévères type wake-board, monoski ou sur-motorisation qui amène de forte contrainte sur la pièce en caoutchouc et l’use prématurément...

Les moyeux interchangeables : Uniquement montés, pour l'instant, sur les hélices inox HB et IB Z-Drive, leur principe est simple. Le schéma et la photo ci-dessous le montrent bien ; 1 rondelle + une bague carrée conique et un embout cannelé... Non seulement ce type de moyeu augmente la protection de l'arbre d'hélice lors d'un choc avec un objet, mais en plus il permet un changement rapide d'hélice et des économies.
